Fish Tikka Curry

Ingredients:
  1. Fish pieces- 400 gm
  2. Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp
  3. Chilly powder-1 tsp
  4. Coriander powder-1/2 tsp
  5. Lemon juice-1 tsp
  6. Salt-to taste
  7. Mustard Oil-for shallow frying
  8. Cumin seeds-1/2 tsp
  9. Coriander seeds-1 tsp
  10. Onion-1 large sliced
  11. Tomato-1 large sliced
  12. Sliced ginger-1 tbsp
  13. Sliced garlic-1 tbsp
  14. Cashews-10 numbers
  15. Whole spices-few (cinnamon, cardamom, cumin, pepper cones, bay leaf and F)
  16. Kashmiri chilly powder-1 tbsp
  17. Kasoori methi-1/2 tsp
  18. Fresh ginger slices-to garnish
  19. Fresh green chilly slices-to garnish
Preparation:
  • Marinate fish pieces with ingredients from 2 to 6.
  • Shallow fry them in mustard oil until done (don't over fry).
  • Take out from the oil and keep aside.
  • Keep 1 tbsp of fried oil in the same pan and add cumin seeds, coriander seeds followed by onion, tomato, ginger, garlic and cashews.
  • Saute well till tomatoes are mashed.
  • Allow to cools down and add in to a blender.
  • Blend to smooth by adding enough water.
  • Heat 1 tbsp of fish fried oil and add whole spices.
  • Add kashmiri chilly powder and mix well.
  • Add blend onion masala, salt  and enough water for the gravy.
  • Cover the lid and cook on low flame for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Then add fried fish pieces, kasoori methi and fresh ginger slices.
  • Mix and cook for another a minute.
  • Serve by garnishing on top with ginger and green chilly slices.

  1. I tried this recipe to surprise my kids and it was amazing. I am requesting you please share more fish recipes as my kids are fond of fish. Day before yesterday I tried konkani fish curry and it was yummm.
