Poha Chivda
Avil mixture also called poha chivda is super crisp and delicious tea time snack. You can make it within minutes and store for long days. It is mildly spiced and sweet!! Add choice of nuts and dry fruits to make it more yum.

 Spicy Avil Mixture
  1. Thin white poha / avil- 2 cup
  2. Roasted peanuts-3 tbsp
  3. Coconut slices-2 tbsp
  4. Roasted chana dalt-2 tbsp
  5. Raisins-2 tbsp
  6. Casew split-2 tbsp
  7. Curry leaves-2 srings
  8. Dry red chilly split-2
  9. Powdered sugar-1 tsp
  10. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  11. Chilly powder- 1/2 tsp
  12. Hing / kayam- one pinch
  13. Salt-to taste
  14. Oil-for frying
  • In a heavy bottom pan; add thin poha and dry roast it on low flame for about 8 minutes or until crisp and stiff (without changing its color) (don't stir often; it may break poha; instead stir the whole pan). Take it out from the pan and Keep aside.
  • In the same pan; heat oil and fry peanuts until golden; drain it and keep aside in a colander.
  • Fry roated chana dal, coconut pieces, cashew, raisins, curry leaves and dry red chilly one after another and keep all of the aside in a plate.
  • Next keep 1 tbsp of oil in the same pan; add turmeric powder, chilly powder and hing on low flame.
  • Add roasted poha(avil) and mix well.
  • Add salt and powdered sugar.
  • Add all the fried nuts and raisins.
  • Mix well gently and switch off the flame.
  • Allow to cool completely and store in an airtight container for long use.
