Meethi Seviyan / Sweet Vermicelli
Vermicelli is an easy delicious choice for making sweet treats. Meethi seviyan is a delicious and quick dessert made with thin vermicelli. It is one of the Popular North Indian ramadan recipe. The cooked vermicelli is thickened with milk and sugar simply forms the dessert. Instead of sugar you can use sweetened condensed milk; it makes the dish more rich and yum. But sugar itself is simply the great!
Ingredients:- Ghee-2 tbsp
- Thin vermicelli (semiya)-1 cup
- Milk-2 cup
- Sugar- 1/4 cup
- Saffron-few strands
- Milk powder-1 tbsp
- Cardamom powder-a pinch
- Cashew, almond & raisins- one handful
- Heat a tablespoon of ghee in a pan; add broken vermicelli and saute on low flame for about 5-6 minutes until nice golden in color.
- At this stage add milk, crushed saffron strands; Cook on medium flame until the milk boils and starts thickening.
- Then add sugar and stir cook until thickens.
- Mean while in another pan; roast cashew, almond and raisins in one tablespoon of ghee.
- Add it in to the sweet vermicelli along with cardamom powder.
- Switch off the flame and serve warm or chilled.
