Fish Chukka
Fish chukka is a spicy dry roast fish preparation. The fried fish pieces are coated with spicy and tangy onion gravy. Try this and enjoy with a bowl of steamed rice!
Ingredients;- Fish-1/2 kg (any big)
- turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
- Pepper powder-1 tsp
- Chilly powder- 1 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Ginger garlic paste-2 tsp
- Vinegar- 1/2 tsp
- Marinate the fish piece with all the above Ingredients; rest for 15 minutes and shallow fry it in the hot oil until done.
- Keep aside (You can remove the bones after cools down; if you wish to)
Ingredients for Onion masala:
- Dry red chilly-2
- Curry Leaves-1 spring
- Thinly chopped ginger-1 tsp
- Thinly chopped garlic-1 tsp
- Thinly chopped green chilly-1 tsp
- Thinly sliced onion-1 large
- Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
- Chilly powder-1 tsp
- Coriander powder-1 tbsp
- Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
- Garam masala powder- 1/4 tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Vinegar-1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves chopped-one handful
Preparation:
- In the fish fried oil add dry red chillies and curry leaves saute for few seconds.
- Add ginger, garlic and green chilly.
- Saute for 2 minutes until roasted well.
- Add onion and saute until transparent.
- Add all the spice powders one by one after mixing well in each addition.
- Add vinegar and mix well for a minute.
- Now add the fried fish pieces and nicely coat it with the onion masala.
- Switch off the flame and garish on top with chopped coriander leaves.
