Fish Chukka



Fish chukka is a spicy dry roast fish preparation. The fried fish pieces are coated with spicy and tangy onion gravy. Try this and enjoy with a bowl of steamed rice!
Ingredients;
  1. Fish-1/2 kg (any big)
  2. turmeric powder-1/2 tsp
  3. Pepper powder-1 tsp
  4. Chilly powder- 1 tsp
  5. Salt-to taste
  6. Ginger garlic paste-2 tsp
  7. Vinegar- 1/2 tsp
  • Marinate the fish piece with all the above Ingredients; rest for 15 minutes and shallow fry it in the hot oil until done.
  • Keep aside (You can remove the bones after cools down; if you wish to)
Ingredients for Onion masala:
  1. Dry red chilly-2
  2. Curry Leaves-1 spring
  3. Thinly chopped ginger-1 tsp
  4. Thinly chopped garlic-1 tsp
  5. Thinly chopped green chilly-1 tsp
  6. Thinly sliced onion-1 large
  7. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  8. Chilly powder-1 tsp
  9. Coriander powder-1 tbsp
  10. Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
  11. Garam masala powder- 1/4 tsp
  12. Salt-to taste
  13. Vinegar-1 tbsp
  14. Coriander leaves chopped-one handful
Preparation:
  • In the fish fried oil add dry red chillies and curry leaves saute for few seconds.
  • Add ginger, garlic and green chilly.
  • Saute for 2 minutes until roasted well.
  • Add onion and saute until transparent.
  • Add all the spice powders one by one after mixing well in each addition.
  • Add vinegar and mix well for a minute.
  • Now add the fried fish pieces and nicely coat it with the onion masala.
  • Switch off the flame and garish on top with chopped coriander leaves.
