Pasta Kheer


Pasta /macaroni  is normally used for making savory dishes. Here is an Indian version of delicious pasta kheer (payasam) recipe. It is quite easy to make and tastes great.  I used spumoni pasta and you can replace them with any other variety. Try this delightful kheer at home and make every special moments sweeter!!!

Ingredients:
  1. Pasta-1 cup
  2. Milk-2 1/2 cup
  3. Sweetened condensed milk-1/2 tin
  4. Corn flour-1 tbsp
  5. Cardamom powder-a pinch
  6. Ghee-1 tbsp
  7. Chopped cashew-1 tsp
  8. Chopped raisins-1 tsp
  9. Chopped almonds-1 tsp
Preparation:
  • Boil pasta in enough water for 7-8 minutes by adding little salt.
  • Drain it and keep aside.
  • Boil milk in a heavy bottom pan; when it boils add sweetened condensed milk and stir well.
  • Dilute cornflour with little cold milk or water.
  • Add cooked pasta and corn flour paste to the milk and stir well.
  • Cook for about 5-10 minutes kheer  or until slightly thickens (not creamed but slightly starts creaming).
  • Switch off the flame by adding cardamom powder.
  • Heat ghee in a tadka pan, saute cashew followed by almonds and raisins until golden.
  • Spread it on top of the kheer.
  • Chill the kheer for 15 minutes and serve... (You can serve them warm also)
Note:
 Instead of sweetened condensed milk; you can use sugar and in that case add one more tablespoon of cornflour for thickening the kheer.
