Masala Paniyaram

 Paniyaram is  small pan fried balls. Usually it makes with seasoning of idli batter. More other varieties are also included.You can use the left over idli batter for making paniyaram and enjoy it for the tea time as a crunchy bite. Here is the recipe for easy and delicious masala paniyaram.
  1. Idli batter-2 cup
  2. Oil-1 tbsp
  3. Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
  4. Thinly chopped ginger-1 tsp
  5. Thinly chopped green chilly-2 nos
  6. Thinly chopped onion-1
  7. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  8. Chilly powder-1 tsp
  9. Hing/ kayam-a pinch
  10. Thinly chopped tomato-1
  11. Chopped curry leaves-1 spring
  12. Grated coocnut-2 tbsp
  13. Oil-for frying
  • Heat oil in a pan; splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add chopped ginger and green chilly; saute for a minute.
  • Add onion chopped, curry leaves and saute until transparent.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilly powder, hing and salt; mix well.
  • Add tomato pieces and saute for another a minute.
  • Switch off the flame and allow to cool.
  • Mix it with idli batter along with the grated coconut.
  • Now heat paniyaram pan with oil; Pour ladle of batter in to the holes and fry on both sides until nice golden and cooked.
  • Add in to paper towels to avoid excess oil.
  • Serve hot with tomato chutney and a cup of tea!!!
