Whole Wheat Garlic Rolls on stove top

Whole wheat pull apart rolls are a great choice for a  healthy and yummy breakfast. Once you tasted this pillow soft bread seasoned with butter and garlic; you will get addicted. Most of of them think that, it is not possible to make breads without an oven. It is simply possible with a heavy skillet or inside a pressure cooker with lots of care. The only problem is that the top of the things made on stove top wouldn't get nicely golden. You can over come it by flipping that side on a stove top pan; and cook for further few minutes.

  1. Wheat flour-3 cup
  2. Instant Yeast- 1 tsp
  3. Chopped garlic- 1/4 cup
  4. Sugar- 2 tsp
  5. Salt-to taste
  6. Olive oil-2 tbsp
  7. Warm water- 1 cup
  8. Salted Softened Butter-100 gm (room temp)
  9. Chilly flakes-1 tbsp
  10. Coriander leaves chopped- 1/4 cup
  11. Sesame seeds- To garnish
  • In a bowl add one cup of warm water, yeast and sugar; mix well.
  • In another large mixing bowl, add flour, salt and olive oil, crumble it well.
  • Add the yeast water in to it and knead in to a smooth (little sticky) dough. (knead about 7-10 minutes continuously.).
  • Cover the dough and let it rest for an hour in warm place to rise.

  • Then it will be doubled in size and smooth; knead it once again and divide in to two parts.
  • Take one ball and roll it on a rolling surface by spreading flour in to a square shape one inch thick sheet.
  • Mix well softened butter with coriander leaves and chopped garlic.
  • Spread the half of the butter mix on top of rolled sheet evenly.
  • Now roll the sheet in to cylindrical roll.
  • Cut it in to 4 equal halves.
  • Place it on the baking tray (of about 30 cm round) by leaving some distance between them
  • Roll the remaining dough like this and fill the baking tray with 8 pieces of garlic rolls.
  • Cover it again with a damp cloth and let it rest for another one hour.
  • After one hour it becomes puffed fully and fits together in the pan like a flower.
  • Garnish on top by sprinkling sesame seeds.
  • Heat a pressure cooker on low flame for about 5 minutes (to pre-heat).
  • After that place the cake tray inside it and close the lid (don't place the whistle).
  • Cook on low flame for about 25-30 minutes (until get rises and the top gets completely dried).
  • Take it out carefully and invert the baking pan in to a non-stick pan, cook on low flame for about 5 minutes. (in order to nicely browned the top part).
  • Allow to warm for few minutes and carefully detach from the baking tray.
  • Pull each rolls separately and serve warm!!!!
  • Use good quality instant yeast; if you are using yeast granules, rest the warm water mix for about 15-20 minutes to form bubbles; only after that mix it with the flour.
  • If the dough didn't rise or not doubled in size after resting; rest for more time until rises. else you didn't get the nice bread. (it depends on the quality of yeast you are using.)
  • Always prefer wheat flour for health concern. You can use all purpose flour instead of wheat flour for great taste or mix both.
  • If you are using unsalted butter; mix it with salt.
  • Using chilly flakes is optional for the spice lovers.
  • You can add grated mozzarella cheese along with the butter filling for a lovely cheesy garlic roll.
  • You must serve his hot or warm; when it cools down,  it loses the flavor and taste; so microwave it before eating.
