Orange Chicken


Orange chicken is tangy and sweet Chinese style chicken preparation. The chicken coated with sweet and spicy orange sauce is really delicious. It is an easy one pot chicken dish and have a great side dish for pasta, noodles and rice.
Ingredients for marinade:
  1. Chicken boneless cubes- 250 gms
  2. Corn flour-1 tbsp
  3. Soy sauce-1 tsp
  4. Salt-to taste
Other Ingredients:
  1. Fresh orange juice- 1/2 cup
  2. Soy sauce-1 tbsp
  3. Brown sugar-1 tsp
  4. Hot chilli sauce- 2 tbsp (optional)
  5. Vinegar-1 tbsp
  6. Corn flour-1 tsp
  7. Orange zest-1 tsp
  8. Oil-2 tbsp
  9. Sesame seeds-to garnish
  10. Chopped cilantro-to garnish
Preparation:
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with ingredients under marinade and let it rest for about 15 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl add orange juice, brown sugar, vinegar, orange zest, soy sauce, chilli sauce and corn flour; mix well. keep this orange sauce aside.
  • After 15 minutes of marination; heat 2 tbsp of oil in a skillet, add the chicken pieces in it and stir cook for about 10 minutes on medium-high flame until done (nice golden).
  • Now add the orange sauce in to to it and slow cook for another 4-5 minutes until thickens.
  • Check for salt and switch off the flame.
  • Garnish on top with dry roasted sesame seeds and chopped cilantro.
  • Serve it on bed with rice noodles or rice.
