Kofta Egg Curry

A scotch egg is a hard-boiled egg covered with meat coating rolled in bread crumbs and then deep fried until nicely cooked. It’s a delicious protein packed snack that can easily make at your home kitchen. Here is the recipe of kofta in rich and delicious gravy.

  1. Boiled eggs-4 no’s
  2. Minced meat- 200 gm
  3. Ginger garlic paste-1 tsp
  4. Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  5. Pepper powder- 1 tsp
  6. Cumin powder- ¼ tsp
  7. Garam masala powder- ¼ tsp
  8. Bread slices-2 no’s
  9. Salt-to taste
  10. Coriander leaves thinly chopped- 1 tbsp
  11. Bread crumbs- 1 cup
  12. Corn flour- 1 tbsp

  • In a blender add minced meat and blend well to a smooth paste.
  • Mix it with ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, pepper powder, cumin powder, garam masala powder, salt and coriander leaves chopped.
  • Blend the two bread slices in a blender to a fine powder.
  • Mix it with the chicken mix.
  • Keep it nearby.
  • Dilute corn flour in ¼ cup of water in deep bowl. Keep it nearby.
  • Add the bread crumbs in a wide bowl.
  • Now grease your hands well with water.
  • Divide the chicken mix in to four parts.
  • Make bowls out of it.
  • Take a bowl and make a thin patty out of it.
  • Add a boiled egg in centre and cover the egg completely with the meat patty.
  • Now dip it in cornflour mix; then coat it with the bread crumbs; so that the scotch eggs evenly coated.
  • Place it on a dry plate and coat all the remaining eggs like this.
  • Deep fry it in the hot oil on low flame until nice golden brown in color (if the flame is high; the inner side didn’t cooked well.)

Ingredients For The Gravy:
  1. Oil-2 tbsp
  2. Onion thinly chopped-1 small
  3. Ginger crushed-1 tsp
  4. Almond- 1/4 cup
  5. Poppy seeds-  tbsp
  6. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  7. Chilly powder-1 tsp
  8. Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  9. Sal-to taste
  10. Coriander Leaves-o garnish

  • Soak almonds in warm water for 30 minutes.
  • Peel of its skin and add in to a blender along with poppy seeds.
  • Add little water and make a smooth puree out of it.Keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan; saute chopped onions nil nice golden.
  • Add chopped ginger and saute for a minute.
  • add all the powders one by one in low flame and mix well.
  • Add Add a cup of water and bring to boil the gravy.
  • When it boils add the pureed paste and cook for another few minutes until gravy starts thickens. 
  • Add the prepared kofta's in the gravy and switch off the flame.
  • Garnish on top with coriander leaves and serve hot with Roti..
