Jackfruit Halwa with Coconut Milk

 Jackfruit halwa is an authentic Kerala preparation from well ripen jackfruits. It is a quite easy preparation and a nostalgic sweet dish for most of them. We can prepare it with many variations. I already added One of the simplest method for preparing Jack fruit halwa. Here is another simple delicacy..Do try at home and leave your feedback's..

  1. Jakfruit (de-seeded)- 1 kg
  2. Salt- 1/2 tsp
  3. Jaggery - 1/2 kg (or more depends on your sweet tooth)
  4. Thick coconut milk-1 litre
  5. Ghee-100 gms
  6. Dry nuts and fruits chopped -1 cup
  7. Cardamom powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Melt jaggery by adding 1/2 cup of water. Strain the syrup to remove impurities. Keep aside.
  • Pressure cooks the ripen jackfruits by adding salt and 1/4 cup of water for 4 whistles.
  • Allow to release the cooker pressure by itself.
  • Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed wide pan.
  • Fry the nuts and take it out from the ghee and keep aside.
  • In the remaining ghee add the cooked jackfruits and Saute for few minutes until thickens and nicely sauted in the ghee.
  • At this stage add melted ghee and Stir cook until all the jaggery syrup gets dried.
  • Then add coconut milk and stir until thickens and started leaving from the sides of the pan.
  • Add fried nuts and cardamom powder. Mix well and switch off the flame.
  • Allow to cool completely.
  • Store in an air tight container for long use.
