Spicy Prawn Curry
An easy and quick spicy prawns curry prepared with few ingredients!!!
Ingredients:
- Prawns- 1/4 250 gm
- Coconut oil- 1 tbsp
- Onion-1 medium
- Tomato-2 medium
- Ginger crushed-1 tsp
- Garlic crushed-1 tsp
- Green chilly chopped-2 numbers
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Chilly powder-1 tbsp
- Kashmiri chilly powder-1 tsp
- Tamarind-1 lemon sized ball
- Salt-to taste
For Seasoning:
- Coconut oil-1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1/4 tsp
- Fenugreek seeds- 1/4 tsp
- Shallots (pearl onion) chopped- 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves-2 spring
Preparation:
- Soak tamarind in 1 cup of hot water and squeeze well.
- Puree two chopped tomatoes in a blender to smooth.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan, add thinly chopped onions and saute well until nice golden.
- Add crushed ginger, garlic and green chilly.
- saute for a minute and add turmeric powder and chilly powder on low flame.
- Add blended tomato puree.
- Add tamarind soaked water along with another cup of water.
- Add salt and cook on medium flame for about 10 minutes.
- Add cleaned prawns and cook for another 10-15 minutes until the prawns get cooked and curry starts thickening.
- Switch off the flame and do seasoning on top.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan; splutter mustard seeds followed by cumin seeds and fenugreek.
- Add thinly chopped shallots and suate until golden in color.
- Add curry leaves and switch off the flame.
- Pour it over the curry and mix well before serving.
