Dum Chicken Curry

Dum chicken curry is  a slow cooked chicken in dum method. It is on of the most easiest chicken curry and delicious also. The curry has a nice aroma, creamy gravy and the chicken pieces are cooked  really tender and juicy.
  1. Chicken- 1/2 kg
  2. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  3. Kashmiri chilly powder-2 tsp (as per spice tolerence)
  4. Garam masala powder-1 tbsp
  5. Lemon juice-1 tbsp
  6. Thick curd- 1/2 cup
  7. Cashew paste-2 tbsp
  8. Tomato ketchup-1 1/2 tbsp
  9. Thinly chopped coriander leaves-1 tbsp
  10. Thinly chopped mint leaves-1 tbsp
  11. Chopped green chilly-2 nos
  12. Salt-to taste
  13. Onion thinly sliced-2 nos
  14. Oil-for frying onion
  15. Whole spices- cardamom-1, clove-1, cinnamon-1 small stick
  • Clean and cut the chicken pieces n to medium sized pieces.
  • Heat a pan with oil; fry the thinly sliced onion pieces until nice golden and crispy (dnt let it too brown).
  • Take it out from the oil and crush them with your hands.
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with ingredients from 2-12; along that add crushed onions (keep little for garnishing) for 2 hours in fridge.
  • After that heat a pan with a tablespoon of oil, add the whole spices (cinnamon, cardamom and clove).
  • Add the marinated chicken pieces along with a cup of water (add more or less water depends on how much gravy, we need).
  • Cover the pan and cook on medium flame for about 30 minutes .
  • Switch off the flame and serve the curry hot in side with paratha, roti or rice.
  • Garnish little fried onions on top.
