Paniyaram is  small pan fried balls. Usually it makes with seasoning of idli batter. More other varieties are also included. You can use the left over idli batter for making paniyaram and enjoy it for the tea time as a crunchy bite.
  1. Idli batter- 2 cup
  2. Oil-1 1/2 tsp
  3. Mustard seeds- 1/2 tsp
  4. Urad dal- 1/2  tsp
  5. Green chilly thinly chopped- 1 tsp
  6. Curry leaves thinly chopped- 1 tbsp
  7. Coconut thinly grated-1 tsp
  8. Onion thinly grated-1 tbsp
  9. Thick curd- 1 tbsp
  10. Oil-for frying
  • Heat 1  1/2 tsp of oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add urad dal, curry leaves chopped,  green chilly, onion chopped, coconut grated  one after one by mixing well and saute for few minutes until done.
  • Add thick cur, mix well and switch off the flame.
  • Then mix the above seasoning with idli batter.
  • Heat the paniyaram pan (Unniyappam pan) with oil .(the oil must be at least half the level of the pits, so that when we pour the batter, it should be immersed in the oil).
  • When the oil is hot, Pour a small ladle of batter in each pits of the pan (pour half the level).
  • Fry in medium and flip in to the other side only after few minutes.
  • Fry util nice golden and drain in to paper towels.
  • Serve it along with your favorite chutney or any other dips.
