Idli is a popular Indian healthy Breakfast recipe. Use homemade easy batter for making fluffy soft idlis's and serve it along with chutney, sambar or idli powder.
  1. Raw rice / Sona masoori rice / idli rice- 2  1/2 cup
  2. Urad dal-1 cup
  3. Methi seeds / fenugreek- 1tsp
  4. Cooked Rice- 2 tbsp
  5. Salt-to taste
  • Wash raw rice and soak in enough more water for 4-6 hours.
  • Also wash and soak urad dal and fenugreek separately for about 4-6 hours.
  • Now blend them all with only enough water to grind. Add cooked rice also.
  • Blend in to a coarse thick batter (no need to grind very smooth ).
  • Rest the batter to ferment for overnight or 6-8 hours (more or less depends on the temperature outside).
  • After that add salt and mix well.
  • Pour the thick batter in to idli molds and cooks for about 5-8 minutes. (over cooking makes the idli's hard).
  • And remold it after completely cools down.
