Chicken Satay with Peanut Sauce

Chicken satay is a thin strip of grilled chicken usually serve along with a spicy and delicious peanut dipping. The chicken pieces are cut in to long and thin strips, do a nice marination for a long time and thread it (like stitching clothes) on the skewers to grill.
  1. Chicken breasts-2 (cut them in to thin long strips)
  2. Garlic paste-1 tbsp
  3. Coriander powder-1 tsp
  4. Cumin powder- 1/2 tsp
  5. Jaggery grated-1 tbsp (or use brown sugar)
  6. Chilly flakes-1 /2 tbsp
  7. Soy sauce-1 tsp
  8. Lemon juice-1 tsp
  9. Thick coconut milk-1 tbsp
  10. Sal-to taste
  11. Butter or oil-for brushing
  • Marinate the chicken strips with all the above ingredients (except butter) for overnight (or at least two hours).
  • Thread it on the soaked  (wiped) bamboo skewers and grill for about 30 minutes until nicely done. (flip in to another side after 15 and brush butter or oil) You can also do pan grill.
  • Serve it hot with peanut sauce and salad.
Ingredients For the Peanut Sauce:
  1. Oil-1 tbsp
  2. Onion-1 thinly chopped
  3. Garlic crushed-2 pods small
  4. Roasted peanut powder-3 tbsp
  5. Salt-to taste
  6. Coconut milk- 1/4 cup
  7. Soy sauce-1 tsp
  8. Chilly flakes-1 tbsp
  9. Chilly sauce-1 tsp
  • Heat oil in a pan, add onion and garlic; saute for few minutes and add chilly flakes.
  • Add peanut powder and mix well.
  • Add soy sauce, chilly sauce and coconut milk; mix well.
  • Add 1/4 cup of hot water and salt.
  • Cooks for about 5 minutes or until thickens and serve.
