Swiss Roll Fruit Cake / Charlotte Royale

 Swiss Roll Fruit Cake / Charlotte Royale is a classic dessert with the slices of Swiss roll filled with delicious cream topping. You can make your own favorite filling inside. Everyone surely love this stunning trifle and its simple easy to prepare.
 Ingredients For Swiss Roll:
  1. Egg-2
  2. Flour / maida-2 tbsp
  3. Powdered sugar-2 tbsp
  4. Baking powder- ¼ tsp
  5. Vanilla essence-1/4 tsp
  6. Butter/oil-1 tbsp
  7. Mixed fruit jam- ¼ cup
  • Beat egg and powdered sugar until fluffy and creamy.
  • Add vanilla essence in to it.
  • Fold maida and baking powder in to (or beat in a slow mode).
  • Heat butter in a non stick flat pan.
  • Pour the mixture in to it.
  • Cook covered in a low flame for 5 minutes.
  • Carefully take this in to a soft cloth and cover it for 5 minute.
  • Spread the jam carefully over the cake (do not crack the cake.).
  • Now roll it slowly; sprinkle some icing sugar on top.
  • Cover it with a cling wrap and rest for 15 minutes (you can refrigerate also).
  • Cut in to pieces and keep  in a plate;
  • Make this quantity of Swiss roll once again or you can double the ingredients used above and bake it on large baking sheet. 
Ingredients for filling Swiss Roll Cake:
  1. Whipping powder- 1 packet
  2. milk-125 ml
  3. vanilla essence-few drops
  4. fresh fruits- orange, kiwi, plums and nectarine (use the choice of your fruits)
  5. sugar syrup- 1/4 cup
  • Beat whipping powder with cold milk and vanilla essence in a chilled bowl until fluffy.
  • Peel the fruits in to thin pieces and carefully remove the skin of oranges.Assembling Swiss Roll Cake:
  • In a cup bowl line up with cling wrap or any plastic paper.
  • Arrange the Swiss roll pieces on the sides; press the roll slices together as tightly as possible without changing its shape to form as a bowl shape as shown in below picture.
  • Pour a part of whip cream in this mold.
  • Add plum pieces (by dipping in sugar syrup) on top; then again some whip cream followed by orange pieces, whip cream and kiwi pieces. (dip each piece of fruit in sugar syrup and drip the excess syrup before placing ).
  • Lastly add the remaining whip cream and top it with remaining Swiss roll pieces (if not replace it with some bread slice to cover the top).
  • Cover it just tightly with the plastic wrap and refrigerate for 5 hours to set.
  • Invert the cake in to a plate and remove the wrap covering.
  • Cut the cake in to slices and serve....
