Non-Sticky Oats Upma

 Oats is a diet food having lots of fiber, high on nutrition and low on calories. Hence oats upma is perfect healthy quick breakfast recipe. Making oats upma is simple process but it always results a sticky consistency. For making non-sticky upma; simply follow the steps below.
  1. Oats-1cup
  2. Oil-2tbsp
  3. Mustard seeds-1tsp
  4. Urad dal-1tsp
  5. Red chilly-2 nos
  6. Curry leaves-2 springs
  7. Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  8. Chopped onion-1
  9. Chopped ginger-1tbsp
  10. Chopped green chilly-1tsp
  11. Chopped vegetables-1cup (beans, carrot, green pea, bell pepper and sweet corn)
  12. Salt-to taste
  13. Water-  1/2 cup (almost)
  14. Coriander leaves-few
  • Heat oil in a non-stick pan, splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add urad dal, red chilly and curry leaves.
  • Add onion and sauté for a minute.
  • Add chopped ginger and green chilly.
  • Add chopped bean and carrots; saute for 2 minutes.
  • After that add green pea; sweet corn and bel pepper.
  • Saute for a minute.
  • Add turmeric powder, oats and salt (just enough).
  • Saute for another 5 minutes in medium flame until oats become crispy (but didn't change its color).
  • Boil 1/2 cup of water in another pan. Add only 2 tbsp of water in to the oats by sprinkling (not in to one side). Mix well quickly and cover cooks for one minute.
  • After that add another 2 tbsp of water and mix quickly and cover cooks for another one minute.
  • In this way add all the water until it finished and the oats get cooked.
  • If you want add more water; add it but not in a single step (add little by little; by mixing quickly).
  • When the oats get cooked Switch off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves on top.
  • Serve hot with a cup of te
