Red Velvet Cake

The bright red color cake; sharply contrasted by a white cream cheese frosting is a masterpiece of all other cakes. It can be easily made at home with little patience. Surely this recipe results a  gorgeous classic tender moist cake.
  1. All purpose flour- 1 ½ cup
  2. Sugar powdered- 1cup
  3. Baking soda-1 tsp
  4. Salt- ½ tsp
  5. Cocoa powder- 1 tsp
  6. Red food color- 2 tbsp
  7. Vegetable oil-1 cup
  8. Butter milk- ¾ cup (room temp)
  9. Eggs-2 large (room temp)
  10. White vinegar-3/4 tsp
  11. Vanilla extract- 1 tsp
  1. Pre-heat the oven in to 350 degree. Grease a baking pan with oil and dust with flour (or use two same sized pans).
  2. In a large bowl sift together flour, baking soda, sugar, cocoa powder and salt.
  3. In another bowl whisk; eggs, oil, butter milk, food color, vanilla and vinegar together.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients in to above wet mix by three additions; using a spatula until completely incorporated (smooth).
  5. Pour the cake batter in to the baking tray and bake it for about 40-45 minutes or until a skewer is inserted and check whether it comes out clean.
  6. Remove it from oven and allow cooling completely before icing.

For the Icing:
  1. Cream cheese-1 cup
  2. Powdered sugar- 1 ¼ cup
  3. Butter-70 gm
  4. Vanilla extract- ½ tsp
  5. Salt-a  pinch
  • In a chilled bowl; combine cream cheese and butter in a medium speed with an electric beater.
  • Scrap the sides and add vanilla and salt in to it.
  • Add the powdered sugar in low speed by three or four additions until smooth.
  • Refrigerate it for 10 minutes before applying on the cake.
  • Trim the cake on top and edges to make it flatten and keep the trimmed pieces for garnishing.
  • Apply icing in between the cake pieces and all the sides evenly.
  • Garnish it with powdered cake pieces and fresh strawberries.

Cut in to slices and enjoy J J J
