Pomegranate pulavu

 Pomegranate pulavu is a lovely pulavu variety having nice taste and colorful. It is also called Jweled rice.The crunch and juiciness of the pomegranate seeds can bring an awesome sweet and savory taste to rice.
  1. Basmati rice-1 ½ cup
  2. Pomegranate seeds- 1 cup
  3. Oil-2tbsp
  4. Onion-1 large
  5. Green chilly- 1large
  6. Lemon juice-1 tbsp
  7. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  8. Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
  9. Cumin powder- ½ tsp
  10. Pepper powder-1 tsp
  11. Cardamom-2 nos
  12. Cloves-3 nos
  13. Bay leaf-1
  14. Cinnamon- 1 small stick
  15. Salt-to taste
  16. Water- 2 ¾ cup
  17. Pecan nuts/ pea nuts-  tbsp
  18. Almond sliced- 1 tbsp
  • Was and soak basmati rice in water for 40 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a pan; add cardamom, cumin, cloves, bay leaf and cinnamon.
  • Sauté onion slices until transparent.
  • Add green chilly and all the powders.
  • Add drained rice and sauté for 5 minutes on low lame until crisp.
  • Add boiled water and salt.
  • Cook covered on low-medium flame (stir gently on intervals) until all the water gets absorbed and the rice cooked.
  • Mix it with pomegranate seeds, pecan seeds and sliced almond.
  • Cover it for another 15 minutes.
  • Serve hot with some raitha and pickle.
