Spinach / Palak Cheese Balls

Spinach cheese balls  is a quick, easy and power packed Indian recipe served as a snack or appetizer. This yummy snack is stuffed with the gooey cheese and covered with the goodness of spinach. You can store the prepared balls in freezer for a week and fry it; whenever you crave or to surprise your guest. But take care to serve it hot.

  1. Spinach / Palak-  1 bunch
  2. Parsley leaves (or coriander leaves) chopped- 2 tbsp
  3. Bread crumbs- ¾ cup
  4. Corn flour- 1 ½ tbsp
  5. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  6. Salt-two pinch
  7. Mozzarella cheese grated- ½ cup
  8. Onion thinly chopped- 1 small
  9. Red chilly flakes- 1 tbsp
  10. Butter melted- 1 tbsp
  11. Oil- for deep frying
  • Wash spinach leaves properly.
  • Heat a pan and cook spinach on medium flame for 3-4 minutes until soft by adding a tablespoon of water.
  • After cools down; blend theses spinach leaves in a blender in to a smooth puree (About ¼ cup puree) without adding water.
  • In a large bowl; mix the spinach puree with corn flour, bread crumbs, chopped parsley, salt and melted butter. (Knead in to a smooth dough consistency).
  • Make small bowls out of it. (Almost 6 or 7 balls)
  • In another plate; mix mozzarella cheese with onion chopped and chilly flakes.
  • Make same number of small balls out of it.
  • Grease your hand well with water (or oil) and flatten the spinach ball in to small disc.
  • Put the cheese ball in its centre and cover it completely with the spinach dough. (Round it well without any cracks on the ball to escape the cheese; a small crack can cause the cheese to spread out.).
  • Make all balls in this way (grease your hands before making each balls).
  • Heat oil in a frying pan; add these spinach balls and fry it in low flame until golden in color and crisp.
  • Drain in to paper towels and serve hot.
  • Enjoy the crunchy and gooey balls!!!
