Garlic Chicken - Indian Style
Garlic chicken sounds like a lot of garlic in it. It is a
mildly spiced Indian gravy in which the chicken is cooked along with some more
garlic and other Indian spices. It is an easy and quick one pot recipe. The
tender and delicious garlic chicken roast goes well with plain rice, paratha,
naan or any flat roti. Here is the simple recipe preparation:
Ingredients:- Chicken- ½ kg (medium pieces)
- Garlic paste-1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
- Pepper powder- 1 tsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Garam masala powder- ½ tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Lemon juice- 1 tsp
- Oil-1 ½ tbsp
- Sugar- a pinch
- Ginger chopped thinly- 1 tbsp
- Garlic chopped thinly- 1 ½ tbsp
- Green chilly chopped thinly-1 (optional)
- Onion-2 (chopped in to small cubes)
- Vinegar- 1 tbsp
- Corn flour- 1 tbsp
- Capsicum / bell pepper chopped- few
Preparation:
- Marinate the cleaned chicken pieces with turmeric powder, pepper powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, lemon juice and salt.
- Let it rest for 15 minutes.
- Add oil in a heated pan, when it is hot add a pinch off sugar in to it.
- It starts brown color.
- Add chopped ginger, garlic and green chilly. Mix well.
- Saute until golden in color.
- Add onion slices and sauté for a minute until transparent.
- Add marinated chicken pieces; mix well and cover cooks it for 15-20 minutes on low flame. (Stir occasionally and flip the chicken in other side also).
- Add vinegar and mix well.
- Dilute corn flour with ¼ cup of water and add it in to the chicken.
- Add half of the chopped capsicum in to it and mix well.
- Cook for another 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
- Garnish on top with the remaining chopped capsicum and grilled garlic pod.
- Note: You can use garlic powder instead of garlic paste used in marination.
- : If you need a dry version, skip adding corn flour diluted in water.
