Custard Cookies

Custard cookies are delicious Indian cookie bite that just melts in your mouth. It is simple easy to make at home within few minutes. You can use wheat flour instead of all purpose flour for a healthy punch.  Also you can make it without adding any nuts and tutti fruity; but they give an extra crunchiness and taste to the cookies.

  1. All purpose flour /Maida- 1 ½ cup
  2. Custard powder- ½ cup
  3. Powdered Sugar- 1 ¼ cup (or less)
  4. Baking powder- 1 tsp
  5. Salt- a pinch
  6. Mixed nuts chopped- ½ cup
  7. Tutti fruity- 3 tbsp
  8. Butter- 100 gm (room temp.)
  9. Vanilla essence- 1 tsp
  10. Milk- ¼ cup (or less to knead)
  • In a large bowl add butter and powdered sugar.
  • Beat well with a ladle or spoon until creamy.
  • Add half of the milk and vanilla essence in to it.
  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl and mix well (flour, custard powder, baking powder and salt).
  • Add it gradually it in to the butter bowl by mixing well.
  • Add more milk if required to knead smooth dough.
  • Add the mixed nuts and tutti fruity in to it.
  • Mix well and divide the dough in to two small log shapes.
  • Cover it with a cling wrap and refrigerate for 3 hours.
  • After 3 hours; remove the cling wrap and carefully cut the log in to half inch thickness cookie shapes by using a sharp knife.
  • Arrange these cookies on top of a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake it on the pre-heated oven at 180 degree for about 10-13 minutes until the cookies get crisp on top and cooked.
  • Add in to serving plates and enjoy with a cup of tea.
  • After cools down completely; you can store it in an airtight container for long use.
