Bread Gulab Jamun


 Gulab jamun is one of the most popular sweet , that we prepare for most of the special occasions. Bread gulab jamun is an instant and super easy preparation. It tastes spongy and delicious. You can add a pinch of baking soda instead of baking powder. Also instead of milk; you can use a large egg.
Ingredients:
  1. Bread slices-4 nos
  2. Milk powder-1 tbsp
  3. Butter-1 tbsp
  4. Milk- almost ¼ cup
  5. Baking powder- 1 tsp
  6. Oil-for-frying
Ingredients for the sugar syrup:
  1. Sugar-1cup
  2. Water-1cup
  3. Cardamom powder- a pinch
  4. Saffron- few strands
Preparation:
  • Cut out the edges of bread slices.
  • Blend the bread slices in to fine powder.
  • Mix it with melted butter (or ghee), baking powder and milk powder.
  • Add milk little by little and make a smooth dough out of it.
  • Cover it and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  • Grease your palm well with oil or water and make small smooth balls out of it without any cracks in it.
  • When all the balls are ready, heat a deep frying pan with oil. Once it is hot make the flame to low.
  • Add the balls in to it and deep fry until evenly browned in color.
  • Once done. Keep it aside in a pan.
  • Boil water and sugar in a pan.
  • Cook for about 8-9 minutes, add cardamom powder and saffron. Switch of the flame when it forms a one stick consistency.
  • Put the fried balls in to hot syrup and let it soak for about 20 minutes.
  • Serve it with crushed pistachios or with a scoop of ice cream!!
