Fried Fish in Onion and Tomato Sauce

Fried fish in onion and tomato sauce is a simple and tasty fish preparation that is available in most of the restaurants. The fried fish with the special marination itself tastes great. Take a large fish as a whole or cut in to two pieces depending on the size and plating.

Ingredients for marinating:
  1. Fish- 1 large (Hamour)
  2. Soya sauce- 1 tbsp
  3. Pepper powder-1tsp
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Lemon juice – 1 tsp
  6. Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
  7. Oil –for frying
For onion and tomato Sauce:
  1. Garlic thinly chopped-1 tbsp
  2. Ginger thinly chopped- 1tbsp
  3. Green chilly thinly chopped-1tsp
  4. Onion thinly chopped-1 large
  5. Chilly powder- ½ tsp
  6. Tomato sauce/ ketchup -2tbsp
  7. Chilly sauce- 1tbsp
  8. Soya sauce-1tsp
  9. Salt-to taste
  10. Spring onion thinly chopped- 2tbsp
  11. Carrots- to decorate

Preparation:
  • Clean the fish properly and make some slits on it with a knife for the flavors to penetrate.
  • Dry it with a paper towel.
  • Marinate it with the ingredients under marination for 30 minutes in fridge.
  • Shallow fry it in low flame until both sides are cooked well.
  • Keep it in a plate until the masala gets ready.
  • In the remaining oil add chopped ginger, garlic and green chilly. (Remove the excess oil)
  • When it is golden in color add onion and sauté until transparent.
  • Add chilly powder and saute for a minute.
  • Add all the sauces along with salt and a table spoon of water.
  • Cook for  a minute and add the spring onions and fried fish.
  • Coat the fish with the gravy completely and switch off the flame.
  • Decorate with chopped carrots and serve hot!!
