Mutton Pepper Curry


Mutton pepper curry is a spicy and aromatic curry for the mutton lovers. The tender mutton pieces are cooked with most of the Kerala spices and bring out a flavorful curry. Choose the mutton pieces with its flesh and bone.
Ingredients to marinate:
  1. Mutton- ¼ kg
  2. Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  3. Chilly powder- ½ tsp
  4. Lemon juice- ½ tsp
  5. Garam masala powder- ¼ tsp
  6. Pepper powder- 1tsb
  7. Salt-to taste
  8. Oil- 1bsp
Other ingredients:
  1. Oil-1tbsp
  2. Pepper crushed-1tbsp
  3. Onion-1
  4. Curry leaves-1 spring
  5. Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
  6. Green chilly-1
  7. Turmeric powder- ¼ tsp
  8. Coriander powder- ½ tsp
  9. Fennel seeds powder- ¼ tsp
  10. Garam masala- ½ tsp
  11. Vinegar- ½ tsp
  12. Coriander leaves-few
  13. Salt-to taste
Preparation:
  • Marinate mutton pieces with ingredients under marinating for 20 minutes.
  • Heat a tablespoon of oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add mutton pieces in to it and sauté for few minutes until mutton pieces are browned in color.
  • Add enough water and cooks it until mutton pieces are ¾ th cooked.
  • Heat oil in another pan, add crushed pepper and sauté in a low flame for a minute.
  • Add onions and sauté until transparent.
  • Add ginger, garlic and green chilly; sauté for a minute.
  • Add all the powder one by one in a low flame by mixing well after each addition.
  • Add cooked mutton pieces, curry leaves and vinegar in to it.
  • Cook for another 10-15 minutes until the curry starts thickening.
  • Switch off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves.
