Marble Puttu

Puttu is a kerala normal breakfast recipe. Marble puttu is prepared with a combination of rice flour, wheat flour and corn flour. You can also add ragi flour if you have it with. The different colors gives a marble effect and hence the name marble puttu. Here  is the simple recipe.
  1. White rice flour- ½ cup
  2. Wheat flour- ½ cup
  3. Corn Flour (Corn Puttu Podi)- ½ cup
  4. Coconut grated- ½ cup
  5. Salt- to taste
  6. Warm water
  • In three separate bowls add rice flour, wheat flour and corn flour.
  • Mix each of them with salted water gently by scrubbing with hands until a bread crumbs condition is formed (when you hold the crumbs together; it will stick).
  • Add a table spoon of grated coconut in the puttu mold.
  • Keep the puttu mold in a sliding condition with one hand and add little rice flour through one side.
  • Add wheat flour in another side by keeping some more space for adding corn flour.
  • Now keep the mold in straight position and top it with some grated coconut.
  • Again layer it with three flours in the sliding position.
  • Top with grated coconut and steam cook for 6-7 minutes until steams come out from the top.
  • Serve it hot with the choice of your curry.
