Lauki Masala

Lauki/ Bottle gourd masala is a healthy and delicious Indian curry recipe.  By using lauki, we can make many recipes like kofta, sabzi, curry, juice, halwa, etc. Lauki juice is popular throughout the World, because of its health benefits.  Lauki masala is a quick and and simple preparation.

  1. Lauki / bottle gourd chopped- 2 cups
  2. Tomato-1
  3. Green chilly-2
  4. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  5. Chilly powder- ½ tsp
  6. Hing / asafetida – a pinch
  7. Oil-1tbsp
  8. Mustard seeds-1 tsp
  9. Curry leaves-2 spring
  10. Shallots chopped-1tbsp
  • Cook lauki by adding  turmeric powder, chilly powder, salt, tomato pieces and green chilly in a pan along with enough water to cook.
  • Cook it until lauki pieces get transparent and cooked well.
  •  In another pan; do the seasoning by heating oil and splutter mustard seeds.
  • Add shallots chopped, curry leaves.
  • Sauté it until shallots are browned.
  • Switch off the flame, add hing in to it and add this  seasoning in the lauki masala.
  • Serve hot with rice or paratha.
