Irachi Pathiri / Meat Stuffed Bread

Irachi pathiri / meat stuffed bread is a popular Malabar recipe. It's one of the ramadan special delicacy. Once you taste it; surely you will love with the recipe. Even though it need bit steps to make; the result was awesome.
Ingredients for pathiri / bread:
  1. All purpose flour- 2 cup
  2. Salt-to taste
  3. Oil-2tbsp
  4. Warm water-to make a smooth dough.
Ingredients for filling:
  1. Chicken boneless-200gm
  2. Onion-1
  3. Ginger garlic green chilly chopped-1tbsp
  4. Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  5. Chilly powder-1tsp
  6. Pepper powder-1tsp
  7. Coriander powder-1/2tsp
  8. Salt-to taste
  9. Coriander leaves-few
Other ingredients:
  1. Egg-2
  2. Sugar-1tsp
  3. Salt-a pinch
  4. Oil-for deep frying
Preparation of filling:
  • Cook the chicken in pressure cooker with salt, turmeric powder and little water for 3 whistles.
  • Dry the excess water after cooking and mince the chicken pieces.
  • In heated pan, add oil and saute onion until transparent.
  • Add ginger, garlic and green chilly chopped; saute until raw smell goes off.
  • Add all the powders one by one and mix well.
  • Add minced chicken pieces and mix well.
  • Switch off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves.
  • Mix flour with salt and oil.
  • Add water little by little and make a smooth dough.
  • Divide the dough in to small lemon sized balls.
  • Roll each ball in to thin circles.
  • Take a roll and add little filling in its centre.
  • Cover it with another rolled circle and seal the edges with little water by weaving the sides with hand or fork.
  • Beat eggs with sugar and a pinch of salt.
  • Dip the prepared irachi pathiri in egg.
  • Take it out and deep fry in the hot oil until both sides are golden in color.
  • Drain in to paper towels; serve warm and enjoy!!
