Kolhapuri Chicken Curry


Chicken kolhapuri is a hot and spicy chicken curry with delicious taste and aroma originated from South western part of Indian named Kolhapur.

Ingredients:
  1. Chicken cut in to small pieces-1/2kg
  2. Oil-2tbsp
  3. Cumin seeds-1/4tsp
  4. Cardamom-2nos
  5. Cloves-2
  6. Cinnamon-small inch piece
  7. Onion thinly chopped-2 nos
  8. Tomato thinly chopped-2nos
  9. Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
  10. Green chilly-2 nos
  11. Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  12. Kashmiri chilly powder-2tbsp
  13. Coriander powder-1/2tsp
  14. Garam masala-1/2tsp
  15. Nutmeg powder-a pinch
  16. Water-1cup
  17. Salt-to taste
  18. Thick coconut milk- 1/4 cup
  19. Coriander leaves chopped-1tbsp
Preparation:
  • Heat oil in a pan; splutter cumin seeds and cardamom, cinnamon and cloves.
  • Add chopped onions and saute until golden in color.
  • Add ginger garlic and green chilly; saute until raw smell goes off.
  • Add all the powders one by one after mixing each addition.
  • Add tomato and saute until mashed well.
  • Add chicken pieces and salt.
  • Saute for 5 minutes.
  • Add boiled cup of water and thick coconut milk.
  • Cook covered for 20-25 minutes on low-medium flame until curry thickend and chicken cooked well.
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves on top and serve hot.
