Vermicelli Halwa

Vermicelli halwa is a quick and easy sweet just like semolina halwa. Vermicelli is normally used for making kheer, upma and sheera. Another recipe tried using vermicelli is Semiya Chattipathiri. Here is the recipe of simple semiya halwa.
  1. Vermicelli-2cups
  2. Ghee/ butter-2tsp
  3. Sugar-2 cups
  4. Water-4 cups
  5. Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp
  6. Fried cashews and raisins-few
  7. Food color-a pinch (red, orange or yellow)
  • Heat a pan with 2 tsp of ghee and roast vermicelli until it becomes slight brown in color.
  • Keep it aside in a plate.
  • In the heated pan; pour water, cardamom powder and a pinch of food color.
  • Allow to boil; when it boils add the roasted vermicelli in to it along with some raisins and cashews.
  • Close the lid and allow cooking until all the water gets absorbed.
  • Stir well until the vermicelli halwa leaves from the sides of the pan.
  • Switch off the flame and add it in to a greased plate and flatten it.
  • Allow to cools down completely and cut in to pieces and decorate with fried cashews on toP.
