Sweet Sesame Balls / Ellunda



Sweet sesame balls are a popular sweet in India. It is a delicious and nutritious sweet at the same time. Sesame is a powerhouse of organic minerals, especially calcium. It is very good for skin internally and topically.  So try to include it in your daily diet.  Let’s do it by making some sweets out it. Here is the recipe of  simple and easy sweet  sesame balls.

Ingredients:
  1. Sesame seeds-1cup (use white or black)
  2. Melted jaggery- 6 tbsp
  3. Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp
  4. Ghee-1tbsp 
  5. Ginger powder- ¼ tsp (optional)
Preparation:
  • Dry roast the sesame seeds in a low flame for few minutes until its colour starts to change and become crisp (nice aroma will spread when it get roasted).
  • Keep it aside.
  • In a non-stick pan add sieved melted jaggery (sieve jaggery syrup to remove the impurities in it.).
  • Stir well continuously for few minutes until lots of bubbles appear and the starts to thicken.
  • Add a drop of this melted jaggery in to cold water, if its form a jaggery ball; then the syrup consistency is good. If it dilutes in the cold water, then comes to the conclusion that you want to boil it for few more time to reach the correct consistency.
  • Add a table spoon of ghee to the melted jaggery and switch off the flame.
  • Quickly add roasted sesame seeds, cardamom powder and ginger powder in to it and give a good mix.
  • Grease your palm with little ghee and make balls shape out of theses hot mixture (not too much hot but can handle with your palms).
  • Allow it in to cools down completely and start eating.
  • Store it in an airtight container for long use.
