Shallots Pickle / Ulli Chammanthi


Shallots pickle / Ulli Chammanthi is an incredible substitute for all other curries and side dishes. It goes well with rice, tapioca, idli  and dosa. I prefer to it this with any of my breakfast and rice.  Adjust the amount of red chilly according to your taste. But it tastes superb, when it is spicy.

Ingredients:
  1. Shallots-1cup
  2. Dry red chilly-6 (up to 10 ) nos
  3. Tamarind- ½ of a lemon size
  4. Salt-to taste
  5. Coconut oil-1 tbsp

Preparation:
  • Roast dry red chilly in coconut oil for few seconds (don’t allow to burn).
  • Take it out and blend with all other ingredients (tamarind, shallots and salt).
  • Bled in to a fine paste without adding water (if necessary add little rice boiled water or to thicken ).
  • Mix it with coconut oil and serve.
