Palak Paneer Pulavu

Palak paneer pulavu is a traditional Punjabi dish. It is an easy and quick one pot meal; for a healthy lunch box for kids and adults. You can use any choice of your vegetables along with these two ingredients. Check here for the homemade paneer recipe.

  1. Palak-1cup
  2. Paneer cubes- ¾ cup
  3. Basmati rice-  1 ½ cup
  4. Onion-1
  5. Grren chilly-1
  6. Garlic pods-2
  7. Oil-2tbsp
  8. Salt-to taste
  9. water-3 cups
  10. Cumin seeds- 1/4 tsp
  11. Bay leaf-1
  12. Coriander leaves chopped- 2tbsp
  • Wash and soak the basmati rice in water for 30 minutes.
  • Heat a non-stick pan with 1 teaspoon of oil and add paneer cubes.
  • Fry it for a minute until both sides are just golden in color(Don't fry too much).
  • Take it out from the pan and keep aside
  •  In the same pan add garlic, palak, green chilly and coriander leaves.
  • Sauté for,  just a minute and switch off the flame.
  • Grind this mixture in to a smooth paste without adding water (if necessary add, little).
  • Add remaining oil in a pressure cooker, splutter cumin seeds and add bay leaf.
  • Add onions and sauté until transparent.
  • Add blended paste and mix well.
  • Add drained basmati rice and sauté for 2 minutes (without cracking the rice).
  • Add water and salt; cover the lid and pressure cooks it for 1 whistle on medium-low flame.
  • Open the lid only after the whistle goes completely by itself.
  • Add paneer cubes on top it and give a gentle mix.
  • Serve hot with some pickle, raitha and pappad.
