Matar Poha Recipe

 Poha / avil masala / rice flakes rost is a common South Indian breakfast recipe. It can make in different types like potato poha, onion poha, etc. You can make it with the choice of your favorite vegetables. Here is a simple recipe of matar poha.

  1. Poha / avil / rice flakes-2cup (white or brown)
  2. Oil-2tbsp
  3. Pea nuts- 2tbsp
  4. Mustard seeds- ½ tsp
  5. Cumin seeds- ¼ tsp
  6. Onion-1 medium
  7. Green chilly-1
  8. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  9. Chilly powder- ½ tsp (optional)
  10. Salt=to taste
  11. Grated coconut- ¼ cup
  12. Fresh green peas- ¼ cup (or frozen)
  • Wash poha over running cold water for few seconds until its get soften but not cracked.
  • Drain it and keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, roast peanuts until brown in color and take it out from the pan. Keep it saide.
  • In the remaining oil splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
  • Add onion and sauté until transparent.
  • Add green chilly, turmeric powder and chilly powder.
  • Add green peas and coconut grated; mix well.
  • Sauté for 5-6 minutes.
  • Add drained poha and salt in to it and mix well.
  • Sauté for 3 minutes until completely mixed and add peanuts on top of it.
  • Serve hot with a cup of tea.
