Thattukada Style Beef Roast

Beef roast is a traditional Kerala beef preparation served with parotta, appam, pathiri, chappathi, and ghee rice. It tastes well, when its spicy. Thattukada beef recipe seems to be a favorite recipe for all those who taste it once.
Ingredients:
  1. Beef- ½ kg
  2. Oil-2tbsp
  3. Coconut pieces-2tbsp
  4. Whole garam masala pieces-few (cardamom, cinnamon, cloves)
  5. Onion-2big
  6. Tomato-1
  7. Ginger garlic paste-1tbsp
  8. Green chilly-2
  9. Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
  10. Chilly powder-2tsp
  11. Garam masala-1tsp
  12. Coriander powder-1tsp
  13. Fennel powder- ½tsp
  14. Pepper powder-2tsp
  15. Curry leaves-2string
  16. Coriander leaves-few
Preparation:
  • Marinate the beef cubes with ¼ tsp of turmeric powder, ½ tsp of chilly powder/ ½ tsp of pepper powder 1tsp of ginger garlic paste and salt.
  • Pressure cooks it with little water until nicely cooked.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add whole coconut pieces and whole garama masala pieces.
  • Saute until coconut pieces are brown in color.
  • Add onion and sauté until golden in color.
  • Add curry leaves, green chilly and remaining ginger garlic paste.
  • Sauté until raw smell goes off.
  • Add all the remaining powders in low flame and mix well.
  • Add chopped tomato pieces and sauté it until mashed well.
  • Add the cooked beef in to it; cook until the gravy thickens and all the water gets absorbed (According to the thickening consistency you want).
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves on top.
