Hot and Sour Chicken Soup

 Hot and sour chicken soup balances delicious spicy, sour and sweet elements in a unique way. It is simple easy to make at home. The spicy elements come from the ingredients black pepper and green chilly. You can reduce or increase the amount of it according to your taste.  Here comes the recipe

  1. Chicken-1 big piece (or use two leg piece)
  2. Carrots grated-2tbsp
  3. Cabbage grated-2tbsp
  4. Egg-1
  5. Soya sauce-3tbsp
  6. White vinegar-2tbsp
  7. Pepper powder-1tsp
  8. Salt-to taste
  9. Corn flour-1tbsp
  10. Green chilly-2nos
  • Boil the chicken piece with 2cups of water, salt and pepper powder for 20 minutes.
  • Take out the chicken piece itself from the pan, remove its bone and mince the meat.
  • Put the minced chicken pieces again in to the chicken stock.
  • Add carrot and cabbage in to the pan.
  • Cook for another 10-15 minutes.
  • Add vinegar and soya sauce.
  • Allow to boil for another 5 minutes.
  • Beat the egg with a fork and add little by little in to the boiling soup.
  • Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Dilute corn flour in little water and add it in to the soup.
  • When the soup starts to thicken, switch off the flame.
  • Sprinkle extra thinly sliced green chilly on top.
  • Serve hot with chill vinegar sauce or soya vinegar sauce.
  • Note: This quantity serves for three bowls. If you are using readymade chicken stock, just boil it with minced chicken pieces, carrots and cabbage together and continue the process. You can add little chilly powder in to the soup if you want.
