Meen Ada / Steamed fish Pancake
Meen ada / meen pathiri / steamed fish pancake is a Malabar special recipe using fish masala and
rice flour. It is an ideal snack to breakfast and teatime.

- Fish pieces-4big(any fleshy fish like king fish)
- Roasted Rice flour-1cup
- Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
- Salt-to taste
- Boiling water-1 ¼ cup
- Onion chooped-1 big
- Ginger garlic crushed-2tsp
- Green chilly chopped-1
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Fish masala powder-1tsp
- Pepper powder- ½ tsp
- Curry leaves-few
- Oil-2tbsp
- Cook the fish pieces with little turmeric powder and salt along with ¼ cup of water for few minutes or until all the water get absorbed and fish pieces are cooked.
- Let it cool and mince the flesh of fish; keep aside.
- In a bowl mix cumin seeds, salt and rice flour.
- Add boiling water in to it and mix well with a spatula.
- Knead well in to smooth dough.
- In a pan heat oil and sauté onion until transparent.
- Add curry leaves, ginger, and garlic and green chilly chopped.
- Add all the powders and mix well.
- Add minced fish in to it and mix well for 2 minutes.
- Keep aside to cool completely.
- With the rice dough make big lemon sized balls and roll it in to make thin crepes(pathiri) out of it.
- Take a pathiri and put 1tbsp of fish masala on one side of it.
- Fold and seal it with the other edge as seen in the picture.
- Make all other crepes like this.
- Steam cooks it for 10-15 minutes.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
