Fish Biriyani


Fish biriyani is a flavorful and spicy rice menu. Everyone will surely enjoy the great taste of it. Here is the simple steps for making biriyani.

Ingredients:
For marinating fish:
  1. Fish pieces-5big
  2. Turmeric powder-1/2tsp
  3. Pepper powder-1tsp
  4. salt-to taste
  5. ginger garlic paste-2tsp
  6. chilly powder- 1/2tsp
For masala:
  1. Onion thinly sliced-4
  2. Tomato thinly sliced-2
  3. Ginger, garlic, green chilly paste- 1tbsp
  4. Garam masala-1tsp
  5. Fish masala-1tsp
  6. Mint leaves chopped-1tbsp
  7. Coriander leaves-1tbsp
  8. lemon juice-1tsp
  9. Salt-to taste
  10. Oil-2tbsp
For Rice:
  1. Basmati rice/ jeera rice -2cup
  2. Boiling water-4cup
  3. Cinnamon stick-2(one inch size)
  4. Cardamom pods-4
  5. Cloves-4
  6. Bay leaves-2
  7. Salt-to taste
  8. ghee-2tbsp
To garnish:
  1. Fried onions
  2. Cashew nuts
  3. raisins
    Preparation:
  • Soak the rice in water for 1hour. 
  • Marinate the fish pieces with above marinate ingredients.
  • Rest for 15 minutes and fry it. (no need to fry crisp)
  • In a pan heat 2 tablespoons of oil and sauté onion very well.
  • Add ginger, garlic, green chilly paste in to it.
  • When the raw smell goes add tomato in to it;
  • When the tomatoes are mashed well add garam masala, lemon juice, coriander leaves, mint leaves and salt.
  • Add fish pieces in to it and slowly give a mix.
  • Drain the rice from water and keep aside.
  • Add oil in another pan; add cinnamon stick, cardamom, bay leaves and cloves.
  • When it crackles; add rice, boiling water and salt.
  • Cover the lid for 10minutes in a low flame.
  • Open the lid and give a gentle stir; cook till all the water gets absorbed.
  • In the dum pan add little oil or ghee; spread half part of rice.
  • Sprinkle mint, coriander leaves and lemon juice on top of the rice and put the fish masala on top..
  • Spread remaining rice on top of it.
  • Sprinkle mint leaves, coriander leaves, lemon juice and garam masala.
  • Add fried onions, cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Cover the lid tightly and put it on the stove top for 15 minutes on low flame.
  • Slowly take out the rice from top in to a serving dish.
  • Take out the fish pieces from the masala and put in to a serving plate.
  • Now mix the remaining rice and masala well; Add it in to a serving dish and put the fish pieces on top of it.
  • Serve hot with raitha and pickle.
