Parippu Vada / Lentil Fritters

Parippu vada is a popular tea time snack in Kerala. Everyone loves the spicy crunchy bites along with a cup of tea.
Ingredients:
  1. Kadalaparippu (chana dal) – 1 cup
  2. Onion chopped thinly-1
  3. Ginger chopped thinly-1tbsp
  4. Green chilly chopped thinly- ½ tsp
  5. Curry leaves chopped thinly-2strings
  6. Asafoetida- a pinch
  7. Salt-to taste
  8. Oil-for frying
Preparation:
  • Soak the chana dal in water for 3-4 hours.
  • Drain it well.
  • Coarsely blend it without adding water (no need to blend fine, contains small chunks to bite).
  • Mix it with all other ingredients except oil.
  • Make small balls with it.
  • Wet your hands with some water and make small disc shape parippu vada with these balls.
  • Carefully transfer it in to hot oil.
  • Fry in the medium flame until both sides are golden in color.
  • Drain in to paper towels and enjoy the taste!!
